Allen Carter

Funeral services for Allen Carter will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Johnnie Dunn and Bro. Bill Hudson officiating.  Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Allen Franklin Carter was born on September 14, 1953 in Ruston, LA to W. D. and Billie Gilbert Carter.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Monk Carter; his parents;  uncles, Bonnie “Slick” Carter (Mary Ellen),  Damon Harris Carter (Martha), Charles Mackie Carter (Gloria), Allen Ray Gilbert (Frances); and aunt, Betty Gilbert Goff (Wiliam); a sister, Martielle Carter Whitten; and cousins, Damone Carter, M. H. Skeet Wilson, Diane Wilson, David Wilson, Angie Wilson, and William Kirke Goff.  Allen is survived by several cousins, Jim Gilbert and wife Minette, Kathleen Gilbert Buchanan ("Buck"), Bo Carter and wife Denise, Jim Whitten, Celeste Whitten Giroud, Sandy Carter Harrell, Vicky Carter Faith, Amanda Goff (wife of Wiliam), and Paula Albright.

Allen was a resident of Natchitoches.  He owned and operated Allen Carter Security, and also worked with his father at Carter’s Jewelers.  He was a graduate of Northwestern State University and was very active and involved in Theta Chi Fraternity, for over 40 years.  He watched and listened to the NSU football games when he could.  Allen was a member of Westside Baptist Church.  He was blessed to serve in the music ministry with a beautiful voice, and he also served in the media ministry working the cameras.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Terry Oswald, David Nardini, Mike Oleske, Brian Lassiter, Eric Oleske, and Steven “Friday” Oleske.  Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Chauvin, Damian Montelaro, Duke Terrell, and J. R. Kemp.
