Michael "Mickey" Moran

Funeral service for Michael 'Mickey' Moran will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, August 10, 2006 in St. Augustine Catholic Church with Rev. Jacob Thomas officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery at Isle Brevelle, La. under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches, La. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 9, 2006 from 5 PM until 9 PM with a rosary service at 7:30 PM in the Chapel and on Thursday, August 10, 2006 from 8 AM until 9 AM at the funeral home. Mr. Moran, 64, of Isle Brevelle, La., died Sunday, August 6, 2006, in his residence at Isle Brevelle, La. A veteran of the US Army, he went on to worked as a salesman and as a driver and substitute teacher for the Natchitoches and Rapides Parish Schools. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, St. Augustine Historical Society, US Naval Academy Foundation, and Natchitoches Genological Society. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noble Joseph Moran and Carrie Kirkland Moran; brother, Arthur Cecil Moran. He is survived by his wife Dianne Velasquez Moran, and their two sons, LTJG Michael Gerald Moran II and Matthew Velasquez Moran all of Isle Brevelle, La.; sister-in-law, Carolyn Jackson of Natchitoches, La.; host of extended family. Pallbearers will be Dominick Metoyer, Russell Valles, Joseph Moran, Robert Moran, Pat Jones, Bruce Dupree, and Hardy Sers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Holy Name Society. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's School, 1101 East Fifth Street, Natchitoches, La. and St. Augustine Historical Society.
