Margie Kelley Dobson

A service to honor the life of Mrs. Margie Kelley Dobson will be at 2 pm Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Briarwood Baptist Church in Saline, LA with Bro. Dick DeBusk and Bro. Trey Etheridge officiating.  Interment will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until 2 pm at Briarwood Baptist Church located at 1020 LA-9, Saline, LA 71070. Mrs. Dobson, 84 years of age and a resident of Chestnut, passed away February 16, 2018.  She was born on May 22, 1933 to Edwin C. Kelley and Lela Durbin Kelley in Winn Parish, LA.  She married Roland Dobson on July 15, 1950 and shared 62 years together until he passed away in 2013.  She enjoyed traveling with Roland and visiting new places together.  A long-time member of Briarwood Baptist Church, she enjoyed fellowship with her church family.  Her greatest treasure on earth was her family.  The happiest times were when her family could gather and enjoy a meal she prepared for them.  She also enjoyed working in her flower beds and even in her later years, would tirelessly work to produce the most beautiful flowers to be seen.  Spending time outside enjoying her garden as well as tending to her birdhouses, she received so much peace from nature.  She will be dearly missed but always remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She is survived by her son, Ron Dobson and his wife Betty of Chestnut; grandchildren, Hope Kerby (Melvin), Cory Dobson (Amber), and Jon Dobson (Laurie); great grandchildren, Isabella Kirby, Natalie Kirby, Payton Dobson, Sophie Dobson, Conner Collins, Taylor Dobson, and Kaylee Dobson; nieces, Jan Baldwin (Bill), Gail Varner (Bobby), Martha Griffith (Jim), Cynthia Dobson, Mary Alice McBride (James), Judy Thomason (Randy), Janet Wyatt and (Daniel), Rita Ferrier (Donald), Dana Page, Susan Harris and Rhonda Pulis (Kenneth); nephews, Rickey Kelley and Tim Page (Charlotte); as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews; sisters-in-law, Maxine Kelley, Sue Kelley and Vennie Dobson.  She was preceded in death by her husband Roland Dobson; parents, Edwin and Lela Kelley; siblings, Aline Kelley Martin (Kermit), Edwin C. Kelly, Jr., J.M. Kelley (Marie), Opal Kelley Page (Dan), and M.J. Kelley; nephews, Johnny Martin, Jimmy Ray Martin, Vaughn Kelley and Michael Jeffery Kelley. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Cory Dobson, Jon Dobson, Melvin Kerby, Taylor Dobson, Payton Dobson, and Conner Collins.  Honorary pallbearers will be Rickey Kelley, Tim Page, Ronald Smith, Louie Bernard, and Bill Baldwin.
