Charles J. "Chuck" Poehl, Jr.

Charles J. (Chuck) Poehl Jr., 69, died at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, LA on Wednesday February 14, 2018 of cardiac arrest. Born in Tampa, FL on February 14, 1949 and lived most his life in Metairie, LA. He also lived in Baton Rouge, LA and Ruston, LA. He attended St. Aloysius High School and graduated from East Jefferson High School in 1967. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Loyola University in New Orleans, LA and attended that university’s law school. He worked at Emery Air Freight, LADSCO, and other companies during his 20 plus years at the New Orleans airport. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner of Dumaine St. Emporium, an online store.Survived by his wife of 37 years, Terrie Tunstall Poehl; sister, Patricia Poehl; aunt, Rita Poehl, and cousin, Judy McCarthney. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Kerrie Slaton (Kelvin), Bonnie Tunstall, Sherrie Portwood (John), niece Leslie Ducatel (Mark), and great-niece Amelia Ducatel (better known as Dennis to Chuck) along with other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. His faithful dogs “The Streets,” Rampart and Dumaine, will miss him greatly.Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Isabell Poehl, maternal grandparents Frank and Macy Rivero, and paternal grandparents William and Agnes Poehl.A private graveside service and celebration of Chuck’s life will be held on Saturday February 24, 2018. Chuck’s family would like to thank Dr. Kathleen Kautz and her staff in addition to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Courtyard of Natchitoches, Louisiana Extended Care-Natchitoches, and the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center for their loving care and friendship extended to Chuck.In lieu of flowers, donations to Chuck’s favorite charity, the Natchitoches Hope for Paws, a 501C3 Rescue Organization, are preferred.
